These days, tech market is abuzz with the latest development that Microsoft is planning to launch a new version of its Operating System. So, are the days for current OS’ like XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Vista numbered? Well, this could sound to be so true! Microsoft has already sent Invites to Business Customers regarding the launch of this mega event.
Let’s have a look at the next version of windows operating system [code-named Threshold likely called Windows 9] that might take place on Sept 30, 2014 in San Francisco. As per leaked videos & screenshots, this version includes New Start Menu, Virtual Desktops Feature & Notification center to name few. Also, Microsoft is planning more UI changes to the desktop.
Big Question?
Do all the organizations should plan for Migration to Windows 9? This will be Okay for the Customers who still rely on windows XP. But, this will be hard for the organizations that have already migrated to Windows 7 or 8 recently or in between the process of Migration from XP to 7 or 8. Based on the statistics collected by w3schools, 72.3 % users are using Windows 7 & 8.
Windows is one of Microsoft’s main money makers and the company is interested in seeing as many current Windows users move to its latest operating system as possible. However, there are still   plenty of users who are on older Windows versions, including Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Based on the Windows Life cycle, Microsoft will end free mainstream support for Windows 7 by January 13, 2015. However, users will continue to get security updates till 2020.
For customers who are planning for Migration from XP has to wait for the release of Windows 9 & based on the result regarding Security, Performance, User Interface, ease of Networking & many more. Till then, they can plan for migration to 9 rather than 7 or 8.
